“There is no greater meal than an egg”. - Elizabeth Hewson
In this episode, I sit down with author, cook and founder of Saturday Night Pasta, Elizabeth Hewson.
Together, we reflect on what happens when a life in food moves from precision to presence - trading perfection for something far more powerful: honesty.
Through Lizzie’s food memories - from Peter Gilmore’s iconic Snow Egg, to a perfectly poached egg with truffle in Alba, and her ongoing Saturday Night Pasta project - Savva recognises a thread: eggs. Fragile yet full of possibility, they quietly mirror Lizzie herself - delicate, sustaining, and capable of so much more than they first appear to be.
For all the beauty in her cooking, it’s Lizzie’s honesty and understanding that food - and the act of cooking - can steady us, hold us, and bring us back to ourselves.
Lizzy's social cause is The Lachlan Kean Foundation - lachlankeanfoundation.org.
Lizzy's friend Lachie sadly died of bowel cancer at the age of just 37. The Lachlan Kean Foundation mission is to raise awareness and fund research in hope for a future where bowel disease can be cured. The earlier it's diagnosed, the higher the chance of survival.
