Three Food Memories

"Every recess, every lunchtime, I had detention. I had to write on the board "I will not interrupt the class, I will not interrupt the class, I will not interrupt the class..." - Rae Johnston

Our guest on this episode of TFM is a science communicator with a twist. A Wiradjuri and Greek woman with a little Welsh in the mix too, Rae Johnston is as warm and enveloping as her homemade (and grown) spiced apple cake.

On the menu is; roast lamb that knocked eight years of being vego on the head, mum’s triple choc mud muffins, Greek feasts on dad’s side of the family, lessons on bringing a new partner into a single-parent family, where her love of horror movies and gaming came from, and why there's nothing more depressing than a sad, flavourless meal.

Rae's social cause is UNICEF because kids are the most vulnerable people in humanity and we have a responsibility to protect them. She's a UNICEF ambassador (just like Angelina Jolie!) and is host of their podcast NextGEN.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this episode contains images, voices and names of deceased persons.
